Translate document descriptions

Translate document descriptions into Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese (Simplified), French, or English.

Translate a single description

  1. In the Review tab tab, hover over the description cell of the document you want to translate — a row of action icons appears.

  2. Click the translate translate icon.

  3. In the dropdown that appears, select the target language.

The description updates immediately.

Translate multiple descriptions at once

  1. In the Review tab tab, select the documents you want to translate using their checkboxes.

  2. In the toolbar above the table, open the Tools menu and select Translate description….

  3. In the dialog, select the target language from the list.

  4. Click Translate.

BriefTech translates each selected description and reports how many were updated.

After translating

The translated text is saved as a generated description. You can edit it manually at any time by double-clicking into the cell — once you save a change, the description is locked and marked as a manual override. To unlock the cell, hover over it and click the lock lock icon: this keeps your current text and removes the padlock — it does not restore the translated text that was there before your edit.

There is no one-step revert to the description that existed before the translation. To restore the original AI-generated text, retype it manually or re-run the Organise agent on that document.

See Document metadata fields for details on how generated values and locked overrides work.
