Download the original or individual files

Download original or searchable PDFs as separate files in a ZIP.

1. In the tab, click in the toolbar.
2. Under Export Type, tick All Files to include your source documents in the ZIP.
3. Under File Type, select Searchable PDF or Original.
4. Pick a file-naming convention.
5. Click .

Building the ZIP spends index credits — always after a Confirm Export dialog shows the cost. BriefTech charges for any documents that aren't already part of a paid index. Documents you have already paid to index cost nothing to export again. Downloading a single original from the preview toolbar is free.

BriefTech builds the ZIP in the background, so nothing downloads when you click Export. Once you have confirmed the export, a message tells you it has started and that an email is coming; you can carry on working or leave the page. When it is ready, the ZIP appears as a card lower down the same panel — and BriefTech emails you either way, so leaving the page does not cost you the export.

Your last export is not cleared when you leave — reopen Download Files later and your last ZIP is still offered, showing when it was created, so you can download it again instead of exporting afresh.

Download one original straight from the preview

To grab a single document's original file quickly, you don't need the export flow — as long as BriefTech can show the document in the preview. If the preview reads Preview unavailable for this file type, there is no toolbar to download from, so use the export flow above instead.

1. Open the document in the preview.
2. Move the pointer over the preview. If it dims and shows Click to preview, the document has not loaded yet — click anywhere on the preview to load it. Until it loads, the toolbar above is a cut-down placeholder that does not carry the download button — see Previewing documents.
3. Click in the preview toolbar. The file downloads in the format it was uploaded in.

On a narrow preview pane the button moves into the More controls menu.
